Unearthing the Power of Frankincense and Myrrh

In creating Earth, one of the premier soaps in our Elements collection, we sourced ingredients not only for their aroma and appeal, but for their proven, historical benefits.

Two of these ingredients are Frankincense and Myrrh, substances used by ancient civilizations for spiritual enlightenment, medicinal remedies, and more. They were treasured by everyone, hauled across deserts by caravans for kings and commoners alike.

Frankincense and Myrrh are resins that originate from Somalia and Ethiopia. They're harvested from the sap that exudes from the slashed bark of Boswellia and Commiphora trees. The sap hardens on the tree trunk before being scraped off and heated to create their essential oils. From Boswellia we obtain Frankincense, and from Commiphora, Myrrh.

More than mere commodities, these resins were integral to the religious, medicinal, and daily practices of ancient Greeks and Egyptians. Frankincense, due to its aromatic and preservative qualities, was used in significant rituals and practices, often burned as an offering to the gods. Myrrh, with its antiseptic and anti-inflammatory properties, was used in ointments to treat wounds and prevent infections.

Ancient as they may be, these natural resins are still relevant for well-being today. Here's how we use them in our soap to benefit you:

1. Anti-cancer properties: Frankincense contains boswellic acids, which may help fight certain types of cancer.

2. Mood enhancement: Both Frankincense and Myrrh can ease symptoms of anxiety and depression, potentially acting as natural mood elevators.

3. Improved sleep: A combination of Frankincense and Myrrh oils can help promote restful sleep by relieving tension.

4. Skin health: Frankincense may help reduce wrinkles and skin imperfections, enhancing personal grooming routines.

5. Anti-inflammatory properties: Frankincense and Myrrh oils have anti-inflammatory qualities that can benefit those suffering from conditions like arthritis or muscle pain.

6. Immune system support: Frankincense is associated with boosting the immune system, crucial for overall health.

7. Stress reduction: Inhalation of Frankincense oil can lower heart rate and blood pressure, providing an alternative to prescription medications for stress relief.

Incorporate these ancient essentials into your daily health regime for improved health and overall well-being. It's about enhancing your natural strength with historical wisdom. Equip yourself with Frankincense and Myrrh, and stand firm in the face of life's challenges.
